The Gilded Age was a time of great collecting when decorators, hired to create the opulent interiors of the time, used an eclectic decorating scheme to accommodate their clients newfound treasures. Speaker Gary Lawrance is an architect, author and historian with a special interest in the Gilded Age. Homes could have numerous rooms that represented styles from all periods of architecture and design. They ranged from the American Colonial, French 18th-century, English, Italian, Chinese, Greek and Egyptian, to name a few. Mr. Lawrance will highlight some of these interiors and the decorative objects found in Hamptons homes during the Gilded Age.
