The important role artists play in shaping the unique identity of our community has never been more evident. From St. James to Mount Sinai, our local region is home to significant artists whose impact reaches well beyond the shores of Long Island. Each in their own way, the 28 artists in Local Color enhance and create the communitys unique identity by not only defining our creative culture, beautifying our environment, and adding to the depth of our economy. Many also serve as activists through their work, advocating for social, technological, and environmental awareness and change. Local Color examines these influences, and explores the breadth of expertise among our regions artists.
Artists featured in Local Color include Kelynn Alder, Fred Badalamenti, Joan Branca, Pam Brown, Nancy Bueti-Randall, Sue Contessa, Micheal Drakopoulos, Paul Edelson, Peter Galasso, Han Qin, LoVid, Flo Kemp, Karen Kemp, Jim Lecky, Jim Molloy, Carlos Morales, Patricia Morrison, Patricia Paladines, Mel Pekarsky, Alicia R.
