At Stony Brook University we offer a variety of rooms and gardens that accommodate both large and small groups, indoors and out. Many of our rooms are wired for laptops and audiovisual equipment. Classrooms and auditoriums can be reserved for meeting space, large presentations, or ceremonies. Receptions and banquets can be hosted in a number of our facilities. The Student Activities Center, located on the academic mall, serves as the focal point of the University. Events hosted at this facility include lectures, conferences, movies, concerts, gallery shows, and formal ceremonies. Our building exceeds ADA standards by offering multiple wheelchair access points and all of our spaces are wheelchair accessible. Enjoy our facilities and venues, many of which are equipped with access to the campus wireless internet program.
The Stony Brook Student Union has several programming spaces available. The Union auditorium, ballroom and various meeting rooms all have diverse setup options and possibilities. The Courtyard is surrounded by the Auditorium, Lobby, Bleacher Club, and Fireside Lounge. With outdoor tables and chairs, beautiful gardens, and access to the campus wireless internet service the courtyard is a popular place to relax, hold outside meetings, or other receptions.
Childs Mansion is located on the north shore of Old Field overlooking Flax Pond. The beautifully appointed porticoes, decorative motifs and craftsmanship of this historical home is reminiscent of days gone by. Childs Mansion is ideal for as small conferences, seminars or special events.
The elegant Charles B. Wang Center is an ideal setting for all types of events – staff meetings to receptions, seminars, presentations, conferences, exhibits and celebrations. Spacious and serene, it is one of the most beautiful and inventive buildings celebrating both Asian and American cultures.
Our culinary trends ranging from the very simple to the very stylish. Our goal in serving you will always be to meet the needs of you and your guests while allowing you to enjoy your event. A variety of catering options are available to suit your needs and tastes. Campus Dining promises superior service, while offering an exceptionally unique and delicious culinary product.
Your event attendees can dine at one of our many campus dining locations or use our onsite catering services. A variety of dining options are available to suit your needs and tastes. Food choices from American, Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Thai, Kosher, and Mexican to Italian as well as sandwiches, platters, salads and hot specialties along with breakfast and coffee-break fare are available.

Stony Brook University is located halfway between Manhattan and Montauk, at the geographic midpoint of Long Island’s North Shore. It is nestled in a spectacularly scenic area close to the historic villages of Stony Brook and Port Jefferson. These harborside enclaves are home to shops, restaurants, and historical sites and are two of the most picturesque waterside villages to be found on Long Island.
Stony Brook University is easily accessible by car, train, plane, and ferry, making it the perfect getaway for your event. . The Long Island Rail Road station is located at the north end of campus, with bus service to central campus, and the Bridgeport-Port Jefferson Ferry is only minutes away. Major New York-area airports nearby: Long Island MacArthur airport is located 25 minutes away, and Kennedy and LaGuardia airports are both 60 minutes away.
